Is your child studying whales and dolphins in school?–or does your child just show a genuine interest in Cetacea? Check out the following kid-friendly resources for more whale-learning experiences.

1. Whale Watch. Whale Watch’s Cetacean Station is an interactive learning experience for children learning about whales. Play games, watch whales, and learn all at the same time.
2. Whale Times. At Whale Times, children take an adventure of the ocean to learn about whales, seals, sea lions, sharks, penguins, and walruses! The site goes over what these animal eat, where they live, how they survive, and much more.
3. Whale and Dolphin Conservation @ Australia. This site, designed specifically for children, is backed by the Australian government. It looks at dolphin and whale species around and beyond the Australian coast.
4. Defenders of Wild Life. The Defenders of Wildlife site has an extraordinary section dedicated to Cetacea, or whales. This is informative for all ages and easy to navigate for children.
5. Science News for Kids. Read about whales on Science News for Kids. The joy of this article is that is discusses how whales can be fun for everyone from 5 to 95 years of age.

Whales and dolphins open a child’s interests to other similar oceanic fields as well, such as oceanography, diving, and marine biology. If you can, take a child with interests in whales and dolphins to aquariums (or Sea World!) and/or tide pools for hands-on learning experiences.
